Here are some rules you should review before writing or commenting on a fan-fic.
1) Don't spam. That's a common rule for this entire forum and please follow it. Spamming includes saying "That was a great story, please write more". Sure its a nice compliment but it can apply to every other fan-fic on the site and so its spam. Its too vague and if someone wrote something that you really liked show it by writing something with detail that's specific to that story. If you could copy and paste it to another story its spam.
2) Constructive Criticism is good! Every writer wants to know what you thought was good and what was bad in their work. It'll let them adapt to what their story seemed to be lacking or having too much of and so write something even better in the future.
However there is a very small line between constructive criticism and flaming. If you think that someone is flaming your work please report it. For those of you not accustomed to constructive criticism its a good thing and it'll help you in the future.
When reviewing keep these points in mind.
A- Say what was done very well and you enjoyed
B- Say what was done poorly and needs to be improved
C-Give tips
D- all of these should have specific examples or at least vague references to what was written
Not everyone needs to review a story but if you think you can help them out them do so.
3) Don't post a new thread for every chapter, just edit your old post with your last chapter or make a new one. If you make a new thread for your new chapter it will be deleted and you'll have to write your entire chapter all over again
To writers:
Post whatever you feel will make a great story. It doesnt have to be pokemon themed though it makes a nice touch to a pokemon themed forum.
Many of you may be new to constructive criticism but you have to realize that when you post your work in a place where everyone can see and post about it, there will be some people who have opinions about it. Constructive criticism is highly beneficial to an author. ;D
Should you chose to ignore constructive criticism, your readers will get aggravated and might not want to read what you have anymore. Its a shame when a perfectly good story gets lost because of stubbornness. If you start doing what your reviewers are talking about the criticism can only decrease and the praises increase.
Have fun guys, I cant wait to see what creative ideas you have for fan-fics! Happy writting! ;D
